About Medardo:

Well, ok to all you customers out there. I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Medardo Polo. I did all of my pre-k to high school education in Hillside, New Jersey.Graduated number 7 in my senior class in 2006. I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and I'm proud of my Hispanic heritage. I'm fluent in Spanish in terms of speaking the language, grammar, writing, and other skills. Also, I have been blessed to have a good singing voice and am willing to help anyone in need of vocal lessons. I have done numerous concerts in my church as a child starting from the age of 7. Currently, I'm a member of my church band. This is going to be my third year with them. Also, I could say I'm computer literate and I'm an active user of it almost everyday. I know about Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and other useful programs. Whoever needs help with soccer, I could offer some assistance as well. During my senior year, I was part of the men's varsity soccer team. We made it to the playoffs within our division that year, but unfortunately got knocked out in the first round 2-1. Oh well, it was a great experience. I have also been blessed to be able to draw really well. In 1998 I won the first place trophy in the Elizabeth Lions Club painting competition and that was the clear sign for me that art was going to be my career choice later on.I'm currently doing my third year at Montclair State University in Art Education and it has been great so far. Well, this is your insight into my world. Hopefully, I'll hear from you soon.

More On Medardo's Subjects:

  • drawing

I knew that art was for me ever since I won the first place trophy in 1998 in painting. At the time I was only about 11 years old. The shocking thing was that I also beat high school participants in the same contest as well. I have been drawing ever since I was a kid. My parents would have to throw some of my drawings away because of how much I drew. Over the past semesters I have taken courses in different subjects in the art field which were Art History in Western Civilization, Drawing Beginning 1, 2-D Design, Printmaking, and am currently enrolled in Sculpture and Painting Beginning 1. My goal is to become an Art teacher most likely in a high school setting. I have a good sense of creativity and an open mind to new things that I can try to further develop my artistic abilities. I can offer valuable drawing tips and other information that is worthwhile to know. Hopefully, some of you art students out there will show interest in my services.

  • voice (music)

Well, personally I've been in the singing spotlight since I was seven years old at my church. I have participated in numerous Christmas concerts in my church and I'm currently part of my church band as one of the singers. My voice has been trained by the music director at my church ever since I was a child. Not only can I sing well in Spanish I can also do the same in English. Last semester, I took a course in Introduction To Music taught by Dr. Hostetter who is also the current conductor of the Montclair State University Symphony Orchestra. Not only did I learn a lot, I got an A in the class. I'm also pretty good with memorizing lyrics to songs. Personally, I feel that if you sing a song or a couple of songs and you know the lyrics by heart, usually your audience will tend to appreciate your performance better. If you read off of a paper and sing, you tend to draw your audience away from the message your trying to get across to them. I know from experience and from getting feedback from my fellow singing peers. Also, I'm honest about giving feedback to people on their singing abilities. I'm pretty direct with my comments. If I see that you didn't perform to the best of your abilities, I'll let you know that you could have done better and would offer a couple of suggestions on how to improve when performing again. Well, pretty much this is it. Now it's up to you to decide if you want my services or not.
