My Dear Stdeunts!
Teaching has been my passion for ever, although that is not what I do to make a living. I am a Software engineer working for a Major financial services/Investment Banking company in the Loop area (Chicago).
Math+Computer+Finance is my passion. I write adanced computer software for financial services companies. The work I do - programs I write - has to do a lot with math... number crunching algorithms, calculus, statistics, pricing engines and a lot more fun stuff. I write these progeans in C++ and Java.
I came to America, way back in the 1990's to do research in Math. The scholarship i expected did not materialize. I had 2 choices (a) Return to India (b) do something here.
Now, what do I do? Other than Math, I didint really, could tell a Personal Computer from a Microwave. Theyt looked the same to me. In 1990 that was.......
Then what happened, changed my life. A friend had his own software company in CHicago. He wanted me to write "C" programs. I went ... "Now, What is that? "
Today, I am happy to tell you, that is indeed my bread and butter today. I write programs for a living, having worked for such major financial companies as - BANK OF AMERICA,CHICAGO BOARD OPTIONS EXCHANGE,DISCOVER FINANCIAL, UBS and many more.
My way of teaching is very intuitive and different from a lot of conventional teachers that i have come across. I am not one of those persons, who believe that first you should know basic math before you can learn computers - NONSENSE ----- Things can be different right? Like for instance, R you learning sorting first or learning basics of computing? First I draw your energy to where it should be directed at? That is passion.. kindle that passion first. Then your natural energy drives everything else from there on....
When I teach software/languages, I tend to show you real World code. I show you the real applications that Professionals write. When you see the real examples, then you get a much better, intuitive, perspective of what actually you are embarking on, for your goals.
I am very particular of students being guided correctly. I love doing this. I have always encouraged students in my life. If you happen to come to the Starbucks store, during weekend (Streets of Woodfiled), you will see my passion at work. A lot of folks come there during weekends, for tips and little help. I love helping them out.
