I have been interested in the arts since I was 5 years old. I was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and earned my Bachelor's of Arts degree from the University of Dallas. I was fortunate enough to participate in the Rome program which allowed students beyond their Freshman year a full semester to study in Rome. This opportunity broadened my understanding of cultural diversity, and intensified my connection between the arts and the history in which it was created. My European experience helped shape my teaching methodology and has made me a successful teacher. I think that it is important to combine technique, science and history to that students receive a full understanding of what they are doing. The final product is not only a pretty picture, but also the understanding of what they are doing, why it turned out that way, and where the idea or technique came from. Students also need to know that they are capable of anything. I like to use different teaching techniques to insure understanding. Everyone learns differently, and the ability to reach a student so that their imaginations have the freedom to roam free within the unlimited skills that taught techniques grant them is a priority. I hold a major in studio arts, which means I am knowledgeable in drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics. I have taught in both the private and public school sectors, and have taught both children of all ages to adults. I look forward to helping your student realize their potential!
