I reach kids through my skills as an effective communicator. I have a lot of experience with motivating kids to learn and grow from my volunteer work in the Big Brother program and my time spent at the St. Francis home for kids in Detroit. During my participation with each of these programs, helping kids learn a variety of coursework was an integral component. I am able to reach kids since I am an Uncle to 20 kids ranging in age 6 to 33 and I have a very close realtionship with all of them. My newphews and nieces still look to me for guidance as they go through life. My personality lends itself to understanding kids and motivating them to learn through teaching them the satisfaction and pride of improving their mind. My approach is very supportive and patient because not each class is easy but anything can be learned if you try hard enough! I break things down so the student is able to grasp a small part of the lesson at a time. At the end of the session I find an overview of what was covered as well as a detailed agenda for homework to be a very effective tool. I attended Bloomfield Hills schools and went on to attend Western Michigan where I graduated in 1991 with a degree in Communication. I am a graduate in Dale Carnigie and I am joining Toastmasters in October. I know our kids are the future and I understand the importance getting the best education possible to do well as an adult. Learning never stops, but it helps to get a solid base when a child is young. As they say, no one can take your education from you and it will make a huge difference in your lifetime.
