About Anne:

Hello! I have three university degrees in music. My field is voice. I have sung opera, oratorio, concert repertoire and Gilbert and Sullivan, and am continuing to build a performing and teaching career. I have always enjoyed teaching. When I was in college I was a teaching assistant in voice, and since graduation, I have taught on two college faculties, as well as privately. I am also an aspiring writer. Last year I went through a nine month program called Popular Fiction Writing at the University of Washington Extension, and have written two short stories that I am now sending to contests. I have been to numerous writers groups and had my work critiqued down to the last semicolon. My grades in English and related skills were always excellent. I feel that I can be very helpful to people as an English tutor.

More On Anne's Subjects:

  • general music

I grew up playing folk and classical guitar. In college, I majored in voice, with the goal of becoming an opera singer. I have performed opera, oratorio, musical theater and concert repertoire. I obtained Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and have taught voice on two different college faculties. I have moved to a new location, and am now building a teaching studio for voice, piano and guitar students. My father was a composer, and I grew up in a home that was truly musically unique. I love to teach music, and have been able to help a lot of students. I would enjoy working with you.

  • guitar

I began studying folk guitar at the age of eight. When I entered high school, I took up classical guitar and studied it seriously for several years. It is a beautiful instrument, and there is so much wonderful music written for it. I would greatly enjoy the chance to teach folk and classical guitar.

  • music history

The development of music over the centuries is fascinating. To see how it was shaped by historical events, and how it also shaped history is quite intriguing. I majored in Voice, but I took as many music history courses as I could, because I found it to be so interesting. I would enjoy the opportunity to teach it.

  • voice (music)

I majored in voice, and hold Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Voice Performance from the University of Washington. I have sung opera, oratorio, concert repertoire, Gilbert and Sullivan, chamber music, and early music. During my last year at the University, I was a teaching assistant in Voice. After graduation, I taught singing for five years and Northwest University, then for another five years in the Continuing Education Program at Bellevue Community College. I also am continuing to build my private studio. I love to teach, and would enjoy working with you.
