About Jung-Hyun:

My name is Jung-Hyun(LUCI). I'm a college student and planning to transfer as an architecture major. I have maintained 3.84 in college. In, 2006, I graduated from West High School in Torrance within top 15 percent of the class.

I believe I'm qualified for this job for several reasons. First, I accelerated in math. I took Geometry in 8th grade, then moved on to Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, Calculus AB/BC throughout high school years. Moreover, I scored 700 on my SAT math. Second, I have experiences in tutoring. I've tough students over two years privately and they all improved their grades by a full letter grade. Third, I have worked with students variously. I'm currently a bible study teacher for youth group. I'm also the lead accompanist for my church so I train new accompanists. Lastly, I love working with kids. I've always enjoyed working with students. Thus, I believe that I have the potentials and skills to teach students.

My teaching style is that I guide the student to the answer, instead of GIVING OUT THE ANSWER. I make sure that the student understands what I just have taught and preview new materials together.

More On Jung-Hyun's Subjects:

  • Korean

I was born and raised in Korea until the age of 12. I've been in the States for almost nine years. So teaching Korean is very easy for me. It won't be a problem. I spent my adolescence under my parents and especially my dad was very strict at that time about preserving Korean culture. He always mentioned that I should NEVER forget Korean. At home, I speak korean. I'm fluent in Korean. I can speak, write, read, and listen. Also, I scored 790 on SAT II Korean Subject test.

  • piano

I have been playing for almost 13 years. I had my first lesson in second grade and I really loved playing piano that I was moving at a fast pace. Pianist was one of the careers that I've dreamed of but I ended up quiting all my extra curricular activities because my family had been struck by financial crisis. My parents weren't able to afford any lesson fees. However, I kept on playing since I had a piano at home. Fortunately, I found out that I have perfect pitch. I could automatically listen to a song then play it in piano right away without any notes. So I kept practicing for hous and hours. Then I started going to church at an age of 12. In youth group, the pastor was looking for the accompanist so I started playing. Now, it's been almost nine years of being accompanist in my church. At first, I felt like I did it because there was no one to play it. I also thought that my ability was not at that level to play for the services. However, now I've improved so much and music has been in my life and I truly love it from the bottom of my heart. I don't have a degree in music but I have been training new accompanists for youth group. Also I've taught several students in beginning level.
