About Marc:

Hello,
I'm 54 and I perform music live and compose music on my Mac using Logic. I play piano for weddings and cocktail and perform at gospel church. I read and transcribe music and have been playing since age six. I mostly enjoy Jazz but on any given occasion I can be listening to or composing any style of music. I can teach music with attention to the details of technique and listening.

I also know how to surf and swim very well and can be a tutor for those who wish to better their experience of swimming or learning the ocean, and how to judge it and surf in it. I was on the Saguaro HS (AZ) and Samo High Swim and water polo teams and grew up surfing Malibu using my coache's (Frank Brooks) surfboard.

My martial arts experience is for self survival
and I can glean information and techniques about tactics and street awareness and most of all respect for our fellow man.

More On Marc's Subjects:

  • ear training

Studied Ear Training with Gary Peacock in 1982 at Cornish University for the Arts in Seattle Washington. The class focused on music intervals, chords, chart writing and listening. I would be comfortable in teaching this skill to grade school and high school students though I would accept any level student that wanted to increase or who would be dedicated to increasing their pianistic musical skills.

  • martial arts

Began in Kick Boxing and Benny the Jet's Gym in North Hollywood. More recently still studying under the guidance of Shihan-dai Vince Cecere in Japanese style combat Ju-Jitsu. Can impart wisdom in respect, awareness and combat readiness and techniques. Have achieved Green Belt within the last 6 years of study with the same teacher and have led classes and worked with younger students. Prefer students of High School and up age.

  • piano

Began studies at the age of Six first with classical then became interested in the beatles and other groups in the 60's then began transcribing songs from radio. Picked up studies again at 15 and studied with Herb Mickman and Walter Bishop Jr. for chord theory and 12 tone interval training in Los Angeles. Experienced extensive road work for a period throughout the U.S. with cover material and continued studies in song stylization with Victor Smiley and later rythmic training with Jerry Grey in Seattle WA. Later picked up more classical training with Anton Irek's school in Los Angeles. My main focus currently is writing and live performance.

  • swimming

Began swimming at age three, won first contest at age Five. Competed in local club events, specialty is freestyle and under-water distance. Began body surfing in the 6th grade and surfing by the 9th grade in Malibu. Learned on long board then evolved to short board. Have surfed many southern california breaks from point breaks to beach breaks. Have surfed Mexico and Hawaii. Good soul surfer not in it for the flash but for the fun. Enjoy giving instruction and have much experience to teach.
