More On Momoko's Subjects:

  • Japanese

I was born in Kobe (Japan), and came to the island of Maui (Hawaii) when I was 6 years old. Because there was no Japanese school on Maui, my mother requested school books from Japanese Ministry of Education so I don't forget how to read and write Japanese. Every weekend my mother taught me kanji and written paragraphs, and many homeworks that were due by the next weekend. I have taken highest level in Japanese classes in high school and University (undergrad). I have worked with Northwest Airline (SFO) as a Japanese interpreter for about a year. From May to August 2008, I was in Japan to learn more about Japanese language. I speak Japanese fluently and also read and write. I love to read Japanese books, especially manga. Although I'm from kansai area (West side) in Japan, I have no accent and normally speak hyoujungo (middle of Japan: city of Tokyo).

  • piano

I started to learn piano when I was 4 years old from my mother, who was a piano teacher. She trained me to have a perfect pitch and taught me sight singing. I have attended San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2004 to 2007, and learned a lot about music theory, sight reading, sight singing, musicianship, harmony, teaching (adults and children), singing, music history, etc. I have practiced teaching little children, and taught lessons to teenagers and adults. In my lessons, I would like my students to learn about rhythm, sight singing and the piano lessons.
