With a Bachelor's degree in Extended English Education and a Master's degree in Literacy, Technology and Professional Writing, I am well versed in the contexts of the English language. Over the past six years, I have provided personalized English tutoring for a multitude of writing projects. From working with a graduate student on his environmental science thesis to providing composition instruction for college freshman students, I have the experience needed in order to devise lessons that address your specific writing and/or English need.In addition to teaching multiple technical writing courses through two accredited colleges, I enjoy teaching within a one-on-one environment. To me, there is such joy when a student learns something for the first time and I can think of nothing better than being able to celebrate that victory with the student. Thus, I have made it a priority to create lessons and instruction that is truly personalized and leads to the student's desired end goal. I do not have a prescribed agenda. I see my role as more of a guide than a dictator. I will provide the tools, you have to use them.The English language and its components will always be a passion of mine, but I absolutely live for music. In addition to personally studying piano for 17 years, I have taught piano for 12 years to students ranging in both age and ability. Currently, I am enrolled in a film scoring institute as a way to continually further my own understanding of music. Not only do I play the piano for local theatre companies, I have also served as the musical director for several theatre productions.   For the past 17 years, I have studied various styles of piano playing. I have played professionally for weddings and events as well as for fun in bands and concert settings. In addition, I served as the worship director and piano player for a church for the past eight years. I believe it is important to continually put myself in new musical situations that challenge me as a musician to continue improving my skills. Currently, I am playing the piano for a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I am also serving alongside my husband as the Musical Director and composer for an original theatre production. I am heavily involved in musical theatre as a form of musical expression. I have taught piano for the past 12 years to people from all different backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Not everyone is looking to become a concert pianist, so I believe it is necessary to teach according to the student's goals. If you want to learn how to read music, I can teach you. If you want to learn how to play a sonata, I can teach you. If you want to learn how to read lead sheets and play in a rock band, I can teach you. With piano, you learn through doing. I can give you the skills and techniques you need in order to do what you want to do with the piano.
