About Timothy:

Hello Potential Tutorees:
So this is where I am supposed to tell you a little bit about myself. I'd like to start off by saying that I normally don't like to tout credentials and experience, but the instructions say, "don't be modest." So here goes. I graduated from UC Riverside in 1997 with a degree in Chemistry and minors in Math and Philosophy. I received a Masters in Education (along with my teaching credential) from National University in 2002, and I am currently finishing my doctorate from the University of the Pacific (in Stockton, Ca.). I have taught Math at Bear Creek High School (in Stockton, Ca.) for the past 9 years. During that time I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calc, and AP Statistics. I am also very comfortable tutoring Chemistry. I received a 720 on my math section on the SATs, and a 740 on the math section of my GREs (The Graduate Record Examination). So I am very comfortable tutoring for any standardized exams (But obviously my strengths lie in the Math sides of those tests). I was selected Teacher of the Year in 2005 (at Bear Creek High School). In addition to teaching math, I have also taught AVID (a program to help students get into college) for the past 7 years. I recently took a position working for AVID Center (down here in San Diego), and BOY IS THE RENT EXPENSIVE. I'm used to the cost of living being a little lower. So I have decided to take up a few extra hours tutoring as a way of taking care of a few bills. I don't really know what other tutors write in these things, but the last thing I will say is that I love to teach! I am patient (and will literally explain things 100 different ways if that's what it takes), I am pretty knowledgable (especially when it comes to math and science), and I am friendly. I really hope that you will give me a shot, and I promise I will do everything in my power to help you/(your student) succeed. Thank you for your time and consideration.
