I am a 40 year old mother of 6 that didn't attend college until I was in my 30's.
My passion and major was History. I took many courses but not limited to, US History, Medieval Europe, China, Japan, Russia and the French Revolution.
I am also a rockhound and to feed that passion I took many geology courses.
To assist me with all the research and writing I that was required for my passion and my major I have taken many writing courses as well, excelling in technical writing and research.
While I have no formal teaching or tutoring experience in academics, I have been a manager for many years training associates and tutoring them in what was required of them and encouraging them to excel. My academic tutor at the moment is limited to my children who range from age 4 - 22, so there was lots of opportunity to use what I have learned.
My tutoring and teaching style varies from person to person. It's just a matter of talking and working with the person for a bit to discover how they learn best. Some people learn by reading and studying only. Others need visual aids, or to be shown first before they can try it or understand. Others simply just need to do it with some encouragement. Tutoring is individualized and special.
