About Michelle:

My name is Michelle, and I'm a 1998 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hills's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. At the Hill, I studied advertising and psychology.
Currently, I own a salon in Summerfield called Ra Sun-Spa & Nail Therapy. Ra Sun is the product of my educational background, my work experience in retail and sales management, and my passion for the personal care and service industries. Not only do I own my salon, but I am a licensed nail technician and esthetician there, as well.
In high school, my best subjects were grammar, vocabulary, composition writing and creative writing. Through the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, I learned the craft of copywriting, newswriting, editing/proofreading, covering speeches (I'm an excellent note-taker), creating an advertising plan, and basic marketing principles.
In short, I love the art of written expression. Let me help you put your words on paper in an organized, concise, effective manner.

More On Michelle's Subjects:

  • study skills

When I got to college, it dawned on me that I didn't know how to study. I didn't study in high school- maybe I glanced over notes in home room right before the test or in the car on the way to school. But I certainly didn't spend time trying to learn material. I didn't have to- school came easy. In fact, I almost didn't graduate because of truancy. The school passed me because I was among the top 10 in my class and had already gotten accepted into a 4 year college. I didn't think I was ever going to have to study. Then I got to Carolina. Take notes? What? Prepare for a discussion on Friday's recitation? My days of winging-it were over. Learning how to study and prioritize your assignments are things you need to master now, not after you've already made in the low C's on your first set of midterms. Prioritizing, taking detailed notes, and organizing study materials are things I got very good at- and with a quickness, too. Feeling overwhelmed? Feel like you've got too much to do and don't know where to start? I can show you how to work through all of this!!
