I am a classically trained pianist with an interest in the art of all manners of composition and a passion for developing unique talent. I have worked as an accompanist for choirs and as a paid performer for various audiences.
In terms of my scholastic achievement, I received my Bachelor's degree in Humanities from the University of Kansas, an interdisciplinary degree which involved the in-depth study of Spanish, English Literature, and Western Civilization. While at the University of Kansas, I worked as a Writing Consultant (tutor) at the KU Writing Center under the direction of accomplished author in the communications field, Dr. Terese Thonus. The idea behind the label "consultant" is that writing coaches do not "fix" students who come to them for help. We allow them to uncover the potential and unique experience that each of them brings to the table. My objective, should you select me to assist you, would be to understand, beyond the assignment at hand, how to cultivate the tutee's writing such that he/she brings persepctive and confidence to writing tasks.
During my undergraduate study I also had the opportunity to study for a semester in Barcelona, Spain. I have attained intermediate fluency in the language, especialmente con mi escribiendo. I will be happy to assist in this area as well. Learning a language should not be about making the grade. It should be about taking words and making life experiences from them.
