I have a B.A. in Literature from Bard College in New York and an M.A. in Literature from the University of Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France. I have taught English as a Second Language to teenagers for over 8 years. I have helped many students develop the skills in reading, writing, studying, and public speaking that will allow them to be successful at top colleges and universities in the U.S. In addition to experience as a classroom teacher, I have also been tutoring students in English and French for over 8 years. I tailor my tutoring sessions to meet individual students' needs and move at a pace that is comfortable for the student. My students' success is my primary goal; I focus on creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment in which the student will develop skills that he or she will use during the rest of his or her education. I am a native English speaker, and I am fluent in spoken and written French (in addition to significant coursework in French Literature during college, I lived in Bordeaux, France, for 7 years and did my M.A. there). I can tutor students in reading, writing, study skills, literature, French, and history. I am friendly, patient and kind, and I love working with young people.
