My name is Brendan and I am a resident of Buffalo, N.Y. Recently I graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo and received a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in May of 2007. After graduating, I took an advanced competency test in engineering called the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, to obtain my E.I.T. (Engineer In Training) license. In June of 2007 I received my E.I.T. license and have completed the first of three requirements to obtain my Professional Engineering license. The significance of the exam is that it proves my thorough knowledge of advanced mathematics, engineering and statistical mathematics and fundamental problem and critical thinking skills. The test consisted of four years of rigorous engineering curriculum spread out over an eight hour exam period.
After graduating, I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to assist elderly relatives with major home repairs. While there, I worked with the Nevada Tutoring Company that I still am a member of. I tutored students for this organization for about six months. When I finished the work at my relatives home in Nevada, I applied for engineering positions in Buffalo, N.Y. I was accepted by my current employer, Buffalo Engineering, P.C. in May of 2008 and I am currently working as an engineer in Buffalo, N.Y.
I enjoy tutoring students because it is rewarding for me to see a person strive for academic success and achieve it. Growing up, I was surrounded by three teachers who are my mom, my aunt and my sister. They tutored me in different ways during my upbringing and I feel as though I have adopted a little of each of their tutoring methods and incorporated those into my own unique style. While tutoring, I am patient, considerate and compassionate of each individual student's learning needs and capacities. As a former student, I can relate to the difficulties and issues that are associated with studying and being tested on a variety of academic material. I am also aware of the tremendous enthusiasm and rewarding feeling that accompanies good grades and this is something I want all of my students to strive for.
My academic skill set includes, but is not limited to, the following: beginner level math (trigonometry, geometry, algebra), calculus (pre-calc up to differential equations), sciences (chemistry, biology, earth science), applied science (physics I-III, statics, dynamics, circuit analysis, thermodynamics, general mechanical engineering sciences).
My life skills set includes, but is not limited to, the following: basic grammar and writing skills, basic accounting (budgeting, timesheets and expense reports), basic correspondence (letter, email and memo) writing, advanced professional document preparations and presentations.
My computer skill set includes, but is not limited to, the following: Navigating Windows and Mac computer interfaces, Internet Research, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Access, Power Point, Outlook), AutoCAD (all versions up to and including 2009), Pro Engineer, Solid Works, Building Modeling and HVAC calculations.
I would like the opportunity to provide my services and skills to students in Buffalo. I have my own reliable transportation and I am available from 5:30pm until 11pm on Monday-Friday and 10am until 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. I look forward to meeting with your staff and speaking with you about part time employment opportunities. My contact information is provided below my name. Thank you for your consideration.

Brendan
