I graduated in 2005 from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Oceanography. I was then commissioned in the United States Air Force as a meteorological officer. I am currently enrolled in my master's degree program in Environmental Studies and have a teaching assistantship at the College of Charleston for Physics Labs. I swam collegitly for the Academy and represented the United States against Allied Forces in two championship meets abroad. I finished an Ironman triathlon endurance race in April of 2006. I am more naturally gifted in the humanities, but this is what makes me a good math/science tutor as well: I understand what it was like to struggle through a lot of the more technical and advanced science classes. I have spent the last 10 years coaching and instructing swimming; I love teaching, be it in the water or at a desk! My time management skills were excellent from competitive swimming and school schedules and only improved after I joined the military. I am well aware of the rigors of applying to college, taking the SATs, struggling through technical classes and learning a new sport. All of these rigors are rewarding if you accept the challenge!
