I'm a recent graduate of Harvard College, where I earned a BA in English and American Literature and Language, summa cum laude (top 4 percent of the graduating class), and received several prizes for my analytic and creative writing. Back in high school, I scored 800s on both Math and Verbal sections of the SAT I and scored 800 on the Writing SAT II. I was a National Merit Scholar, a Robert C. Byrd Scholar and a Telluride Scholar. More importantly, I am a friendly person and an experienced tutor. In the past 5 years, I've prepped students for the SAT Is and SAT IIs, taught general test-taking and study skills, tutored students in English and literature and helped students strengthen their academic and creative writing. My approach is very much tailored to a student's individual needs. Rather than offering a set of overly complicated strategies, I prefer to identify where a student is struggling and find out what works best for her. Often, I like to talk through test-questions or problems to see a student's mind at work and offer advice based on what I hear. That way, we can use what strategies work for the student rather than confusing him with overly complicated methods. I am a very open and friendly person, easy to talk to, and a good teacher. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
