I am a experienced teacher of instrumental and general music in all grade levels including college. I teach private individual trombone and low brass and have had band and orchestra directing experience. I have a Master's Degree in music and specialized in Composition, Music History,and Basic Theory. I have also taught Humanities with a concentration in History which was my minor in college. I am a successful composer/arranger and an active performing musician. I am very effective and patient with middle school-level beginning music students and a number of my past students have gone on as successful performers themselves. I encourage students to develop a full appreciation and understanding of their subjects.

  Having recieved my Master's Degree in Composition,I am a sucessful writer of over 50 works for various instruments and ensembles both in "classical" and jazz/pop. Many of my compositions were on request and commission from established performers and ensembles. I have also recieved a number of awards and recognitions for my music. I love introducing and mentoring beginners into the joys and challenges of creative music writing as well as guiding more advanced students in creating their own musical voice.

  I have degrees in Music Education and have sucessfully taught General Music and Music Appreciation from kindergarden through College. I have an extensive knowledge of techniques and methods of teaching music to students from just learning to enjoy music by widening their musical horizons to teaching them how to read and write it.Many former students have credited my teaching to awakening their interest in music and have went into it as a career.

  In addition to composition, I have an M.A. Degree in Brass Pedagogy and have been a trombonist for over 40 years. I am an active free-lance musician in the Chicago-land area as well as having performed in,founded or led numerous local concert bands, orchestras, jazz and rock groups. I am very familiar with the trombone repetory, both classical and popular. Having directed elementary, middle and high school bands in my career, I am extremely sucessful with beginning and intermediate players of all ages as well as advanced students. Many of my former students have continued on into musical careers as acomplished performers. I not only teach them to play but also mold them into well-rounded musicians. In addition, I also teach tuba, euphonium/baritone and trumpet.
