A 1995 graduate from Central Michigan University with a BSBA degree with majors in German, International Business and Management. In '93 & '94 I completed two three month internships at a MTU-Friedrichshafen, in Friedrichashafen, Germany where I worked in various departments within the company and was required to read, write and speak German. In 1997 I began working at Detroit Diesel Corporation as a Sales Coordinator and worked directly with MTU-FN who began a joint venture with DDC in '93. I then moved to the accounting department at DDC where I was responsible for all German accounts which required communicating in German everyday.
My experience in teaching German is from working for Langua Tutor as a German teacher at major automotive companies and privately for individuals, groups and children.
My teaching style is very open and likes to gauge it based on the needs of the student. For children it is best to make it much like a classroom setting with question and answer and learn the basics first. When teaching for a group at a corporation, those students may or may not be interested in every facet of the language so I had to tailor my teaching style to accommodate all in the class. Whether I am teaching one or many, it my job to make sure the student understands what is being taught and has a clear and concise direction to achieve their goals.
I am passionate about the language and the culture and have an excellent understanding of the grammar and expressing myself in various subjects.
My skills in German are still used everyday as my husband is from Germany and we speak it mainly in the household with our two children.
