Hi :)
My name is Giovannie, I was born in the States, but grew up in Haiti. I came back here after High School, 6 years ago to complete my education. I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor degree in Biology and French Literature, as a pre-medical student two years ago. I have taken the MCAT and I am now in the process of applying to Medical School. I hope to get into International Medicine, so I could travel and help children around the world.
I have a lot of experience working with children as I have volunteered before at a few Children's Hospitals and also had gone to Jamaica during my senior year at BC at the Jamaican Mustard Seed Communities to assist abandoned severely disabled children.
As a tutor, I have worked with Elementary, Middle and High School students for a few after school programs such as the Catholic Charities After school program and the Upward Bound Program where I helped in subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and French.
I am a very patient individual as I understand that each student has their way of learning, I tend to put myself in the student’s shoes and try my best to make him/her understand the subject. I am very persistent; therefore I will try several methods (mnemonics, drawings, graphs, tables, etc …) until the subject is fully understood. I have been a student as well, so I know how hard it can be at times to understand certain topics in a subject. I truly dedicate myself to accommodate the student to the best of my ability; and it usually works out very well.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, dancing, playing volley-ball, listening to music and spending time with my family and friends.
