I would love to tutor your children through the WyzAnt organization. I recently completed my second year of teaching fifth and sixth grade at Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, VA. This position was a middle-school setting where my students rotated through my classroom during different periods throughout the day. I previously taught fifth grade for two years at Holy Name School, a small, Catholic, inner-city school in Kansas City, Kansas. During my time at Holy Name, I taught in a self-contained classroom. I have been responsible for integrating the curriculum across the subjects of Spelling, Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, English, Religion, and Science. I have privately tutored students ranging from second through tenth grade in a variety of subjects including Reading (elementary), Writing (elementary and high school), Biology, Mathematics (elementary and high school), Spanish (elementary and high school), and History (elementary and high school). I have also been an SAT tutor both with individual students and in a small group setting. I am currently a substitute teacher in the Fairfax County Public School system, and I am a certified teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
My own classroom experience, education, and passion for helping children demonstrate my excellent candidacy to tutor for To The Top Tutoring. I graduated from Georgetown University in 2004 with a major in English and
minors in Government and Spanish, and I earned my Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame in 2006. I am a passionate educator, and I enjoy executing a variety of literacy, writing, and interdisciplinary projects and activities that stimulate creative thinking in children. I am extremely organized and diligent, and I would feel confident tutoring elementary, middle, or high school age students.
I would appreciate the opportunity to further discuss with you my qualifications. Please contact me if you require any further information, a resume, or references. Thank you for your consideration!
