About Gabriella:

My name is Gabriella and I have a BS in biology and a MS in environmental studies. I am interested in working with all types of students. I also have experience in music and have been playing the clarinet for almost 20 years. I was a member of the univ. of sc marching, pep and concert bands. I have tutored students during my undergraduate career and taught biology labs in graduate school. I have also assisted in music/band camps and provided individual assistance to high school musicians. I like my students to take a hands on approach to their learning and an open to any methods that enhance their abilities. I believe every student is different and requires varying methods of teaching.

More On Gabriella's Subjects:

  • clarinet

I have been playing the clarinet and have studied music for almost 20 years in both large and small band and orchestra ensembles. Although I do not have a music degree, I have been very involved in music during college and graduate school as well as after graduation and learned a lot about music appreciation. I was involved in the University of SC marching, pep, and concert bands. I also played at the volleyball games on occasion. As a member of Tau Beta Sigma band sorority I was able to increase my involvement in the band. During the summer, I taught the clarinet section and assisted in the woodwind section of a hight school marching band camp. I have also taught at an individual level. In graduate school I beacme involved in the College of Charleston pep band so i could continue to grow as a musician and enjoy the thrill of performance. Once I was no longer to play for my schools, I participated in community band. I have also taken private lessons myself over the years and taken part in many solo and ensemble auditions. These auditions allowed me to participate in music groups outside of my schools and community. I believe that auditions are a foundation for growth as a musician since it leads to additional practice and opportunities for performance. I would love to be able to work with young individuals and provide them with the basic fundamentals needed to help them grow into strong musicians.

  • music history

I have been involved in music ensembles for almost 20 years. I do not have a music degree but have taken music classes in school through college which has taught me about music theory and appreciation. I would feel comfortable teaching individuals the basic fundamentals of music. I have taught band camps and individuals the clarinet in the past, beginning with music basics such as scales, tone quality, how to read and count music, and breathing techniques.
