A former high school teacher and librarian, I taught technical, honors, and advanced placement English. My specialty was (and still is) literature and language, but I also taught speech communications, theater arts, SAT prep, study skills, and journalism. (I was also an unofficial aficionado of American history and had an interest in philosophy and theology.) My students performed well on end-of-course and advanced placement tests as well as the SATs. I did extensive one-on-one tutoring and have also participated in a community literacy program. I am now an editor of task force reports and a North Carolina medical journal. I recently took yet another course in Shakespeare, and I read and write constantly!
