My undergraduate degree is in Natural Sciences and Secondary Education, which included coursework in teaching reading and I have a graduate degree in Strategic Intelligence. I attended US Navy Instructor Training. I have tutored ESL through Literacy Volunteers and have taught Microsoft Office Applications (specifically Word and Access) and introductory computer courses at Andover College, Mid-State College, Southern NH University, and York, Kennebec, and Southern Maine Community (formerly Technical) Colleges. In addition, I've taught MS Office applications at Adult Education programs in Bath, Topsham, and Yarmouth, Maine. I also worked at a company that scores free form answers on secondary school level standardized tests.
In teaching I like to access a student's learning style and use that to create a learning environment geared to their strengths. I tend to learn best myself by reading but acknowledge that many of the subjects I would like to work in require a hands on approach for the student.
I recently took MS Office mastery tests at a nationwide employment agency and came up in the highest level for Access and just below that level for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
