I am certified K-12 in Latin in Virginia, (certification valid through 2010). I taught Latin in Chesterfield County, Virginia for three years, including starting my own growing program at Cosby High School. I have experience with tutoring and working with students of all ages, including teaching elementary school summer enrichment, middle school full time, and high school.

Last year I received a foreign language teacher of the year award in a county with over 300 foreign language teachers. My classroom and tutored students have scored exceptionally well on the National Latin Exam and other scales of excellence.

I am comfortable and practiced with a variety of teaching methods including TPR, songs, hundreds of games, learning Latin through technology, and spoken Latin to help my students. I also have experience teaching students Latin or Greek exclusively through one-on-one lessons. While I realize that in some ways I am highly specialized, I am an eager, passionate teacher who loves working with students one-on-one and especially helping students overcome struggles in subjects they find challenging. I also have expertise in ancient Greek,religion, and ancient history. I have extensive experience with writing, editing, and English literature as well.

  As a certified K-12 Latin teacher, I studied Attic Greek and taught some basic Attic Greek to my advanced Latin students. I also have experience teaching Attic/Ancient Greek on a conversational/elementary level. As a seminarian, I have studied New Testament/Koine Greek. After passing a test-out of introductory Biblical Greek, I am currently studying the Gospel of Mark in an advanced Greek Readings course. I currently tutor many of my adult colleagues in Biblical Greek.
