My Name is Lisa, I am a 14 Year Resident of Michigan. I attended college in California for Commercial Music and Recording Arts.(Fancy way of saying Songwriting and Record Production) I am also a Guitarist of 40 years. I have worked in the music and theater industry for 23 years as a lighting technician and designer.
The design part of my job led me to Macomb Community College in Michigan to earn an Associates of Applied Science degree in Graphic and Commercial Art - Digital Art and Animation. I also earned an Associate of General Studies. At Macomb I was top of my class and even conducted the student computer graphics lab for 1.5 years walking students through their assignments. My honors included: Deans List 3 years, National Deans List 3 Years, Phi Thetta Kappa, I graduated Magna Cum Laude.
As a graphic Artist every computer is different and with my experience on computers going back over 20 years I have easily adapted to every new wiz bang wonder the manufactures have come out with. I have worked with several computer platforms including: Silicon Graphics, Mac, and IBM. I can tutor any computer program you can throw at me. I even teach EBAY to those who want to work for themselves.
I began tutoring at the age of 12 teaching guitar. My personal musical style is acoustic but I have had many students who learned electric guitar and bass from me. I like to teach my students how to teach themselves. Music evolves and changes, to keep up I feel students must have a firm grasp on the fundamentals and the tools to keep learning long after the lessons have ended. I took that passion for music and attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach California, where I learned about the commercial music industry. I began working as a touring lighting designer before I was able to complete a degree in the subject. However I did attend classes for 3 years and was 1 semester away from that degree.
My most recent teaching / tutoring experience was Richmond High School where I took a student staff of 6 and ran the Theater for all the shows for 5 years. I taught the students all aspects of running the theater including spot lights, sound, lighting, ropes, and electronics, set design, and many more skills.
