About Steve II:

My name is Steven. I am a recent graduate of Spring Arbor University, which is just southwest of Jackson, MI. I graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a primary concentration in Broadcasting and a secondary concentration in Advertising/Public Relations. During my time there however, I was an Secondary Education major for a year, with another major in Social Studies with a minor in Exercise Sports Science. I worked for the University Radio Group, which broadcast all over the southern part of the state. I had a variety of different jobs, most of which was broadcasting the games for our basketball teams and baseball team, as well as hosting a weekly talk show which covered the Athletic Department as a whole along with sports stories at the state level. The men's basketball and baseball teams both competed in national tournaments while I was there and I had the opportunity to broadcast those game. Our coverage of Spring Arbor athletics won countless awards, both on a personal and corporate level, over the course of 4-5 years. I was able to interview several luminaries, including Tony Dungy, Frank Beckmann, Ken Daniels, Mark Champion, and Dan Dickerson. Along with covering the athletic programs as a member of the media, I also worked as an Assistant Sports Information Director within the Athletic Department itself.

I have played sports all my life. I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, as well as running track and cross country. I was almost fortunate enough to be able to continue my baseball career into college. I was a student leader in several aspects, including in my church youth group. I was a member of the Chess club and even though I did not take the SAT, I did take the ACT, and scored a 27 on it.

After graduation, I was hired part time by Sports Talk 1050 WTKA in Ann Arbor, as well as Go Blue Wolverine. Both are media outlets in Ann Arbor, which cover University of Michigan athletics. I continue to work there and thoroughly enjoy it. I hope to be able to tutor because I want to be able to give something back to others who could use my life experience, as well as the talents and gifts that I have been given to help themselves.

More On Steve II's Subjects:

  • baseball

I have played baseball my entire life. In fact, you might say it's in my blood. Several members of my family have played this great game at a high level. My great-grandfather was in the Major Leagues back in the 1920s. He played for the Tigers, Yankees, and Reds. My dad played in college and my uncle got a tryout with the Cincinnati Reds. I played all the way through high school and almost played in college. Instead I turned my knowledge of the game into becoming an award winning broadcaster. I might yet become a coach. My knowledge of the history of the game is unparalleled for someone of my age. I was raised on stories of the greats, from the baseball's early beginnings up until now. Those who know me describe me as a purist. I tend to disagree with them and describe myself only as a baseball elitist. My ideas on the game are not along the lines of most purists, but I do want to see the integrity of the game maintained. It has been a fabric of American society for 150 years and will continue to as long as there is an American society.
