I am an established and accomplished communications professional with a B.A. degree in English from Agnes Scott College and an M.A. degree in English from Emory University.I was a National Merit Scholar, the Scholastic Achievement Award winner in a national competition and, my senior year in college, a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I received State of Georgia teacher certification on the secondary level, and, at an early point in my career, was awarded a Rotary Journalism Fellowship for a year's postgraduate study abroad. My career has included job opportunities with the DeKalb County School System; The Omni (predecessor of Philips Arena); the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism (now Georgia Department of Economic Development); Emory University's News Office; the Emory Center for International Studies; Atlanta's Capital City Club; the Southeast regional diplomatic office of the Government of Canada; Grady Health System; the Lupus Foundation of America Georgia Chapter; and the Buckhead Coalition. I have been a volunteer docent and animal handler at Zoo Atlanta and have enjoyed serving as a tutor on elementary, secondary and college levels.I would love to work with you if you're looking for a low-key, results-oriented tutor in the areas of English, ESL/ESOL, literature, SAT reading, SAT writing, TOEFL and writing.I am a strong believer in learning as a logical, step-by-step process that can also be fun!
