About Frances:

I have always had the opportunity to help people partcularly children in each stage of my life. Me & my husband have worked in church ministries now together for over 10 years. I have been blessed to have been involved different avenues of ministries, my favorite being youth & children's ministries. Now that I have left the workforce to stay home and raise my kids, I stayed involved in young peoples' lives by becoming a substitute teacher and working in the classroom on a part time basis. I look forward to the many opportunities I will have in making a difference in kids lives through teaching and tutoring.

More On Frances's Subjects:

  • Bible studies

My college degree of Christian counseling required courses which studied the Bible intensely. Most courses focused on a particular book or theme presented in the Bible. Examples of some are New Testament Survey, Hebrew Poetry and the Book of Acts. These courses each reviewed topics such as background information, content of the book(s) and themes. Through the completion of the coursework in the form of essays and research projects, I was able to get an indepth understanding of the material. Teaching classes in the church setting for over 10 years now has been a contributor to my ongoing studies in the Bible. Teaching allows me to investigate the text and draw connections between Biblical material and the relevance it has in my students' lives.

  • elementary (k-6th)

Right out of high school I worked in a learning center, teaching young children the basics colors, shapes, letters and numbers. I enjoyed teaching the toddler age because it was an age of discovery. I wasn't sure how I would fair if they were older. However, after that time while I was at college, I continued to work with children in the church setting. I took on several different age groups ranging from toddlers to middle school age. I always seemed to have an opportunity to teach children in some capacity even though I was not a school teacher. Over the past couple of years I decided to substitute teach. This opportunity allowed me to work with children particularly of elementary age. I have taught in the classroom to the children as a group as well as one-on-one. I was able to give them a caring learning experience where they also learned the confidence in themselves to get their work done. I have been blessed in my teaching opportunities to have worked with children with different disabilities and challenges. Some of these students were emotionally distressed, autistic, and developmentally challenged. These teaching experiences have given me a sense of pride. I know I have made a difference in teaching them with love and kindness. I have taught many ages of children, but I trully enjoy the elementary age and middle school age children. This is when learning is fun and thus its fun to teach!
