I graduated Magna Cum Laude from NYU in 2006 with a BA in Mathematics. Since then I have tutored privately for two years (mostly math) and have excellent references. Also, since my college graduation, I have started two businesses which I continue to run. I am currently self-employed and my schedule is very flexible.
I have an incredible passion for math and a great enthusiasm for speaking about the subject. With students, it is always my goal to pass along this passion and enthusiasm so that test scores are not the student's only motivation (however I do, of course, understand their importance). I'm very good at identifying the cusp of a student's knowledge and then pushing them forward while allowing them to make their own breakthroughs. One of my strengths is my ability to take things that a student already knows and lay them out in such a way that new truths become immediately clear. I am always on the lookout for bad habits and eager to instill proper habits that will help the student throughout their academic years.
In addition to having lots of experience tutoring students in math, my job with Rock Star Camp has had me working one-on-one with hundreds of young musicians every summer for the past three years. Here, it is my job to form an instant relationship with the young musician (usually 12-16 years old) and teach them how to play a song with the band in just 20 minutes. These interactions have taught me how to earn a student's respect and hold their attention while leaving them comfortable enough to speak their mind and enjoy themselves.
I live in New York City and have access to the subway system. I also have a car and would be willing to drive if necessary.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
