I am a lawyer with a love of French, France, French culture, cuisine, history and art. My love affair with French began when I was 11 years old, when I started studying the language. I took AP French courses through high school and majored in French literature and translation at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. I lived and worked in Paris, France for 14 months following college. I have traveled extensively throughout France and keep up with French culture through films, magazines, newspapers and literature. I also participate in an adult French reading and conversation group once a week in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. I tutored French while in high school and college. I have also tutored in SAT Verbal and I have taught English as a second language; these experiences enhanced my skills in the art of tutoring. I prefer one-on-one tutoring with motivated and interested students. I cater my lessons to the individual needs of the students, whether it be help with homework, studying for tests, or just having fun with the language in different, creative ways. I enjoy finding ways to make learning French fun for my students. Flashcards are often helpful, but I try to stay away from rote memorization; language is a living, breathing organism and is best learned by conversation with a fluent or native speaker. This is how I learned Spanish -- by attending a conversation group once a week. So I know this works. It just takes patience, practice and sticking to it.
