More On Randall's Subjects:

  • general music

I began the study of music at the age of 10 years old. At that time I began learning to play the tenor saxophone. By the time I was twelve years old I was also playing the sousaphone and tuba. As an eight grader I was asked by the band director to play sousaphone in the high school marching band. By the time I was a junior in high school I had mastered all of the low brass instruments. I played everything from sousaphone, tuba, trombone, euphonium, to contra-bass bugle in the drum and bugle corps. I was a member of the state honor band as a junior and senior in high school. I was able to get a full music scholarship to the University of Tennessee as a music major. I then went on to write music and shows for marching bands. And, teaching individual music lesssons. I also won the "John Phillip Sousa American Music Award" as a senior in high school. I have had many dynamic teachers in the past including grammy award winner Wayne Downey of the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. I beleive that based on my knowledge and talents that I am well capable of teaching general music.

  • study skills

I realized in my early years in college that most schools, especially public schools did not help their students to develop proper study skills. As I entered into my first years of college, I struggled with the fact that it was not that I could not do the work. But, it was because I was never properly taught the correct study habits and skills. I sought professional help, to develop the proper study skills. In that process I learned many important aspects that are critical to an individual's ability to most effectively prepare for their subject matter. Such as, some people are better visual learners, and some are better auditory learners. One is not better than the other, they just process the critical informatoin differently. By mastering how to identify these areas and then using those techniques, I was not only able to graduate successfully with a highly technical undergraduate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. But, I was also able to earn an MBA, and graduated with honors from law school with my Juris Doctorate. I would love to help indentify and develop these study skills with any student, if they are willing to put in the effort with me.
