Hello! I graduate from Stanford University in 2006 with a B.A. in Human Biology and an M.A. in Sociology. I'm currently preparing to apply to medical school, taking advanced level courses in Biology and Chemistry. Because of my academic background, I am very comfortable tutoring in the physical and biological sciences and math. Having diversified my undergraduate and graduate course work with a variety of humanities and social science classes, I am also well-versed in writing skills, essay composition, proof-reading and English. For the past four years I have been working as a tutor to help middle and high school students reach their full academic potential. I have enjoyed working with all kinds of students, whether they are shy or outgoing, hyper or bored, lack motivation or are stressed about their performance. My ability to build an excellent rapport with my students lies at the core of my success in helping them reach their goals. Because of my age (twenty-four) I am able to relate to and have an informal relationship with students while also keeping them focused and in-line. I find that most of my students benefit not only from improved grades and confidence after working with me, but also greater motivation to succeed academically. I take a holistic approach, incorporating study skills and organization into all my sessions to help students improve all around, even if the main focus is only on one class.
