I am an attorney with a lot of "unofficial" tutoring experience. My younger sister was four years behind me in school and I routinely helped her with her homework. I also helped proofread and edit her college application essay. During college, I helped my friends and roommates with their math and science coursework. I had tested out of my college math requirement, but my friends were not so lucky and really struggled with math.
I attended a small, liberal arts college in Illinois, called Knox College. I majored in Philosophy and almost had a minor in English/Creative Writing. I was also Pre-Law. I chose to major in Philosophy because it was a challenge to me, I felt majoring in math or chemistry would have been too easy for me as I've always had a natural grasp of those subjects. I was involved with theatre, dance, debate, intramural sports, choir, flute ensemble, and the campus radio station. Knox was great because it let you explore all of your interests.
I attended law school at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. Law school was challenging but a great experience. Chicago is an amazing city, but after spending three years there and my entire life in Illinois, I was ready for a change of scenery. I had always wanted to live in Seattle, so three days after law school graduation, I moved out here. I didn't know anyone, so I was starting over fresh in a brand new city. It was a good decision because I met my husband here and have started my law career.
I want to be a tutor so that I can help students who might struggle in subject areas where I excel and give them tools and tricks to help make the subject easier and more understandable.
