I have been an educator for over 25 years. After receiving my Bachelors from Pensacola Christian College in 1978 in Elementary Education, I taught in several private schools. My teaching experience has spanned from K-4 through 6th grade and also includes being a preschool supervisor and substitute teacher on the Junior High and Senior High level. I excelled at Math in High School and College and it is my favorite subject to teach. I have also privately tutored for over 20 years.
My desire is to give each student the skills they need for their unique learning style. I exclusively worked one-on-one , before and after school, and privately tutored. It was a very rewarding time for me. I believe that we all learn differently. I also believe that we must learn and use that difference to be effectively taught. I had to overcome a “learning disability” myself, a term I do not care for. I truly believe we all can learn. We just need to learn how we learn. One of my own children* had to experience this in the area of reading, so I understand what a challenge this can be for both child and parent and the extra burden that goes into simple daily “homework” tasks.
On a personal note, I have been married over 31 years and am a mother of three and grandmother of seven. A native of Illinois, I have always been heavily involved with my church and worked both onstage and backstage with a local theater group. My other loves are catering and baskets; I own my own catering business and am a Longaberger Consultant.
*Side note: This child has graduated from college and is now a camp director for a ministry in Guam and has even taught on the high school level at the private school there.
