My name is Emily and I am 23 years old originally from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. I am currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theater Writing at New York University. I graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio in 2007 with a GPA of 3.49, having received my high school diploma from The Agnes Irwin School, an academically rigorous private girls school in suburban Philadelphia.
I have been passionate about learning for as long as I can remember. Going to school and succeeding in my classes has always been a top priority for me and I would relish the return to diverse academic pursuits as a leader and motivator. From high school onward, I was schooled in a wide variety of study techniques which have proved successful to this very day. I am qualified to tutor a diverse range of tasks including note-taking, factual memorization, reading comprehension, and the construction of an organized and well-worded essay.
I have a very strong background in English and History having taken several AP English and History courses in high school. I continued my love of both subjects at Kenyon College by taking multi-discipline courses in English, History, Philosophy, and Political Science. In addition, seeking a well-rounded educational background, I have also taken Latin, Honors Biology, AP Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, and almost double majored in Psychology in college.
As you will see from my resume, I have extensive experience as a counselor and thoroughly enjoy working to encourage growth and success in youth of all ages. In addition, I have taken Developmental Psychology and am versed in different learning styles and teaching techniques. I am an outgoing, organized, and reliable individual who is eager to be a positive role model and inspire a thirst for knowledge. I believe in the virtues of patience and positive reinforcement when teaching and strive to create as much as excitement for learning and success as possible.
