My entire professional and personal background has evolved around the needs of special students and the needs of their families as well.
I started volunteering for a group called the one to one club in the late 1960's. That was the start of special Olympics and a start of a wonderful carrer.
I made my choice early on to be an advocate an educator for special needs students. I went to Brooklyn College and received my BA(Cum Laude) in 1980.
I started my professional career for the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities ( OMRDD )as a Habilitation specialist in 1977. I worked there until 1984 where I became a special education teacher and education evaluator for the Brookly School for Multipy Handicapped Students, and continued to work there until 1997 when I became an advocate for my own son who developed a rare neurological disorder called Dystonia.
For the last 10 years I have worked for the National board of the Dystonia Foundation as a family advocate. Along with tutoring many students in various areas, I also taught driver's education and keep busy with many organizations and charities.
My true love is working with at needs children and teaching them what they need to keep them assimilated with their peers and families.
