Greetings! I am a music education major at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. My teaching style is unique in that I plan and tailor each lesson according to the student's strengths and weaknesses. I find this to be the best approach to learning in a one-on-one setting. My teaching experience includes private instrumental lessons as well as local marching bands. Relevant courses I have taken that qualify me to teach the areas I have listed include Music theory, history, solfeggio, elementary methods, and secondary education methods. • ear training

  My experience with ear training involves two years studying Solfeggio at the college level, which coincides with Music Theory. Matching pitches, recognizing intervals, and determining the quality of chords are the main components to ear training. I use all of these in my private lessons regularly and have different techniques of teaching them depending on the students current ability.

• elementary (k-6th)

  I have taken Elementary General Methods, and Foundations of Education, which have given me the tools to teach students at the K-12 level. Depending on the students strengths and weaknesses, I will tailor lessons specifically for the student.

• general computer

  I have been using computers extensively for about 10 years now. I am proficient in many of today's common programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excell, etc. I have designed websites, had my own online business, and know the ins and outs of basic internet usage.

• general music

  I have successfully completed and received the grade of "A" in all music education courses at Mercyhurst College, qualifying me to teach this area.

• music history

  I have successfully completed music history as well as jazz history at the Mercyhurst College and have allready applied concepts and information from these classes to my private lessons and other teaching experiences.

• trumpet

  I am a trumpet major at Mercyhurst College. I have been giving private trumpet lessons since 2005. I have won 2 world championships in Drum and bugle corps. One with the Empire statesmen from Rochester, NY and the second with Phantom Regiment from Rockford, IL. I have been taught by some of the most experienced and innovative teachers in the world in the brass arena.
