I have over 3 years of teaching experience at both the high school and university level. Throughout my experiences, I have interacted with different types of students, from students with learning difficulties to students who just need a small ounce of motivation to reach their potential. As a student myself, I didn't have the best study habits through my first 2 years of college and although I did decent, I knew I was never working to my full potential. During my teaching opportunities over the past 3 years, I have seen alot of students who are bright and very capable, but don't know where to start. My personal philosophy doesn't focus on the material itself, but rather with the skills associated with comprehending that material. Being able to understand something is a very valuable skill because once it becomes a habit, learning becomes possible and more tolerable. I also believe it is important to give students real-world applications which relate to the subject they are studying because it puts what they are learning into perspective. Learning can only start if certain skills are developed and a strong foundation is built.
I have chosen the subjects which I have the strongest foundation in. Much of my expertise lies in the sciences ( anatomy/physiology, biology, chemistry, physics). In any of the sciences, math is always present so I also feel I am very capable of tutoring math.
I offer great versatility when it comes to teaching. I will do my best to gear my teaching style to the student's learning ability. I look forward to working with you. Thank you.
