elementary (k-6th)
Since my mom is a 2nd Grade teacher, I kind of grew up in her classroom. From 5th grade on, I would go to her classroom after school and tutor her students who needed extra help. My experience in her classroom continued as I moved on to Jr. and Sr. High School, helping her students with homework, math, and reading. My experience with this age group continued as I started teaching swim lessons. I mostly worked with elementary-aged kids and absolutely loved them. I have learned that I can be playful and fun but serious and disciplined at the same time. It seems to work perfectly for me. When I did my student teaching in college, I spent several weeks helping in an elementary school classroom as well as a middle school classroom.
swimming
I am pretty much a fish. This characteristic was almost a necessity seein' as I grew up in Las Vegas. Every summer since I was a baby, I've lived in the pool to escape the searing summer sun.
As soon as I started High School, I joined the swim team and quickly became one of the better swimmers. Once my sixteenth birthday came around, I started a job as a lifeguard, where my swimming would be put to the test. Soon after that, I started teaching swimming lessons and have not stopped since. Now I have eight years of coaching under my belt and it is something I love doing. I love getting in the water with younger swimmers looking for confidence and also enjoy coaching swim teams and divers from the side of the pool. I've helped adults preparing for triathlons and older folks just looking to get their feet wet.
I just love swimming and think everyone else should have a chance to love it too.
