More On BRIGETTE's Subjects

  • ESL/ESOL

I have developed curricula that were appropriate to students’ learning abilities and reflected needs and interests. I taught Speaking/Listening/Pronunciation, Grammar/Writing, and Reading/Vocabulary courses at the University of South Carolina-English Program for Internationals. At USC I participated in assessments of international students applying for ITA (International Teaching Assistant) positions and assisted with the Michigan Placement Testing. I have compiled materials for from scratch lesson plans, worksheets, and quizzes. While working as an ESL instructor I was responsible for course outline preparation, student reports, and student educational field trips. I also worked as a ESL instructor for Richland County School District One-Adult Education. I was in charge of composing and planning versatile level-appropriate lessons. I facilitated ESL grammar/writing, speaking/listening, reading, and computer classes while utilizing the communicative teaching approach. I monitored advancement of individual learners, consistently evaluating their needs, and accommodated particular learning styles and strategies. I also provided support and professional feedback to student teachers. This summer I worked in a summer camp and taught 10 year olds in Pisa, Italy. I enjoy teaching English to all levels.
