  I love elementary school children and enjoy teaching them. I have taught second grade and special education in private school. In addition, I designed and taught a amall group tutorial reading and journaling class for grades one through six for two years. This past year I tutored a bilingual child in math, phonics, and reading for six months in his home, enabling him to pass kindergarten and enter first grade. I use interactive teaching with hands-on activities like Cuisenaire rods and lock blocks to teach math concepts. I use poker chips to teach place value and spelling and "Bingo" to teach phonics, sight words and prepositions. I give positive reinforcement with words of praise, stickers and prizes for a job well done. I try to make learnng fun and enjoyable. I believe in helping every child reach his or her greatest potential.
