Hi, I am a certified former elementary school teacher turned stay at home Mom. I am enjoying time with my children but would like to keep my teaching skills sharp. I taught for over 6 years at various levels from Pre-K to 6th grade. I also have many years of private tutoring experience in both reading and math in grades K-6.   As a certified elementary teacher teaching phonics and the mechanics of reading were a staple in my experience. I began tutoring students with difficulties in reading while still in college. This was part of my teaching internship and helped to build a strong foundation of my understanding of instructing others in reading. I continued as a primary teacher to focus on the importance of phonic understanding for all readers at all levels. I began to work on the graduate level towards my reading specialist certificate. Shortly, after a few classes I decided to leave my teaching postion. I continued to instruct students privately mostly in reading and language arts concentrations. I believe that my experience in the instruction of reading is my strongest asset. I beleive that phonics and the mechanics of reading are crucial building blocks to proficent reading. I feel that I am a good candiate to aid students in this concentration.
