Bonjour ! My name is Carole. I am originally from the south of France and moved to the United States 11 years ago. My academic education took place in France and Germany. I hold an MBA from the Nantes Graduate Business School of Management (consistently ranked in the top 5 MBA programs nationwide) and a BA in English applied to economics from the University of Provence. The focus of my degree is global economy and the understanding of other cultures.
Professional Background:
After receiving my graduate degree, I worked as Operation Supervisor and Project Manager for an international freight forwarder in various American locations. I also worked for a multinational private company as International Logistics Manager. I belong to a group of active and highly motivated French people who were recently granted the authority to create an Alliance Francaise in Cleveland, OH. My current objective is to apply my skills, educational background and experience to teaching French through the learning of linguistic fluency in French as well as the understanding of the French culture.
Tutoring experience:
I have served as tutor to numerous individuals: children, young adults and adults. I have designed learning sessions in the following subject areas: grammar, reading, writting, speaking fluency, vocabulary, pronounciation and multi-cultural awareness. I have also served as a member of the Literacy Volunteers of Atlanta (a Pro Literacy accredited Affiliate addressing the problem of adult illiteracy in Metro Atlanta since 1988).
Teaching style:
I am a detailed oriented and very organized individual who thoroughly prepare each session based on the students academic objectives, personal interests and learning capacities. I strongly believe that speaking a different language naturally allows our mind to think differently and broaden our intellectual and mental frontiers.
My learning material and teaching style are both built around this belief. Each session is very interactive and includes:
- A review of topics previously learned.
- An introduction and/or reinforcement of technical topics centered on listening, reading, understanding and speaking French.
- Exposure to cultural topics designed to learn about France and the French people.
I like to get to know my students on a personal level and take pride in watching them succeed and grow beyond their original expectations. I look forward to working with you in order to help you speak like a French person and even to a certain extent... think like one !
