Jason Slota was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. He began studying drums and percussion at an early age with famed marimba soloist and educator, Rebecca Kite. He furthered his education with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at Indiana University (BMJ ’99) At IU he was able to study with David Baker, Dominic Spera, Pat Harbison, and Kenny Aronoff. Jason has extensive national touring and international performing experience. He has performed in concert halls, festivals, and nightclubs, in such varied musical settings as orchestras, concert bands, percussion ensembles, rock and funk bands, latin ensembles, big bands, jazz trios, and as a soloist.Jason’s classical training and musical background offers potential students a wide array of percussion styles to study. He is most at home teaching drumset but is also available for mallet and classical percussion study.Drumset topics include:Reading,Rudiments,Technique,4-way coordination,Transcription,All styles (afrobeat to zydeco)
