I am a sophomore at the University of Nevada, Reno. My major is secondary education History, with an emphasis in English. I'm also working towards a minor in Music.
I have worked as a tutor for several years and I love everything about the learning process! I also worked for a latch key program in Carson City, Nevada for two years and part of the job was to help the children understand their homework. My current job is through the University working in elementary schools around Reno as a "Reading Buddy." I usually have three or four children and my job is to help them catch up to grade level reading.
I went to Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada where I graduated with a 3.8. I took many honors and advanced placement classes during high school. During college I have maintained a 3.8 and made Dean's List both Fall 2007 and Spring 2008.
My teaching style would ideally be to first find out where the student is and what the students learning style is. Learning style meaning are they visual, auditory, or hands-on learners. I also like to look over the students learning materials to see how their teachers are presenting the information. I have found that many students just need some help in figuring out how to interpret the teacher's teaching style.
