Thank you for wanting to learn more about me. I am a K-6 and social science high school teacher and a youth services librarian who has had the pleasure of working with students, grades K-10, in large, very diverse, urban school district and public library systems serving students with academic needs and challenges since 1994. I have also been a professional tutur for a national not-for-profit organization and an online tutoring company.

I have been helping to run an after-school program offering homework help to participating students at twelve different public library branches. Part of my duties has been to coordinate reading, language arts, computer, and character education curriculum and to train teachers how to utilize this curriculum to help students to reach their academic goals. Parental feedback from this program makes me understand how valuable one-on-one assistance can be to improving a student's academic achievement.

Being able to use my training and experience to assist students to develop their academic potential has always been my goal as an educator. Seeing students reach their academic potential has always been my greatest reward.

  As a teacher and as a librarian, I have been working with students, with their teachers, and with students' families to help to improve their academic performance since 1994. I am available to tutor students in grades one through six in a variety of different subjects or just to offer general homework help. I have been trained to teach students in the K-6 grade range. I graduated with a Master's degree in elementary education in 1993 and with a Master's degree in Library Science with a media specialist (k-12) endorsement in 2004. Upon graduating with my teaching degree, I have worked as an on site and outreach educator and curriculum developer for museums, public schools, and tutorial service companies teaching reading and language arts, world history, geography, archaeology, general science, and study skills. For the last three and a half years, I have been working with youth and teens as a Youth Services Librarian in a large public library system. Despite there being so many useful curriculum tools available to help students to improve their academic performance, the choices can be overwhelming for a parent. Part of what I do on a regular basis is to develop new or to coordinate pre-existing elementary curriculum tools and to train teachers how to use them.
