Hello! I am an independent choreographer and dance artist. I have a BA in Dance and Arts Administration from Hollins University, a small liberal arts women's college. I also have my MFA in Dance from Hollins in partnership with the American Dance Festival. Although I have specialized my education with Dance, by attending a liberal arts school I was provided with an extremely diverse education. I have taken classes in nearly every subject imaginable and have an insatiable quest for knowledge. As a teacher, I am extremely patient and creative. I began tutoring in elementary school, working with peers who needed extra attention. I continued on as a peer tutor throughout middle, high school, and college helping primarily with English, Math, and Computer Science. I also started student teaching dance classes. This experience showed me how much I love working with students and how rewarding it is to spend the personal time and energy helping others and in turn, growing myself. After graduating, I spent a year teaching in a performing arts high school. My greatest strengths as a teacher are my extreme patience, and my ability to creatively find ways to personalize lessons. I have been told by students who have been labeled "stupid" or "hopeless", that I not only never allowed them to give up but I also was one of the few teachers who made them feel like I believed they could do it.I look forward to working with you and starting a mutually rewarding relationship.
