I am a Registered Veterinary Technician with a strong background in life sciences. I graduated with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology from Cedar Valley College in 1983. My coursework there included Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology. Through my Comparative Anatomy and Physiology courses in High School, I was able to make a strong connection between human and animal systems and am amazed at the similarities.I also have an intense love of the English language. I have taken additional college courses in English, writing, proofreading and grammar.I have six years of formal teaching experience, and 28 years of experience in training and mentoring. As a veterinary technician, I am responsible for training staff and educating clients. My teaching style is very informal. I think it is important that learning be enjoyable, not a chore. My desire is ignite a fire in my students; a fire that can only be extinguished through learning and knowledge.

  I am a native English speaker with a strong background in reading, writing and grammar. I have taken college courses in English, Creative Writing, and Proofreading, and maintained a 4.0 GPA. In addition, I am married to a Moroccan man for whom English is a third language. Thanks to him, I have been able to see the English language through the eyes of a non-native speaker. I believe this has helped me to have a better understanding of the English language, and to have a good feel for the challenges experienced by people trying to learn or improve their English. I also can speak a limited amount of Spanish, and, as my husband speaks fluent French and Arabic, I am familiar with the sound of those languages. I feel this will be helpful in assisting non-native speakers with pronunciation and linguistics.
