I love history. My enthusiasm for this subject enables me to show students that history is not a boring subject, but one of great interest and very relevant to our world today. I use a variety of teaching styles and techniques ranging from visuals, auditory, mnemonics, games, puzzles, and art to address all learning styles, as well as make the learning process enjoyable. I am always available to my students for help and assistance.
After working for eighteen years in a clerical/accounting position, I decided to go back to school to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I went to work in a middle school office, raised two children (who have graduated from James Madison University), and started working on my degree at Old Dominion University. It took twelve years to achieve my dream, but I am now starting my fifth year teaching high school world history, will receive my Masters in Education in December 2008, and will soon be teaching AP Art History. I tell my students to never give up and to always follow their dreams.
